Blood Lust

I sit in the cool water,
Moving only a little.
I near the surface,
I feel the sun’s rays on my back
I pause,
I hear splashes close by.
I wait,
For the smell of blood.
None comes.
Instinct tells me to leave it alone.
I’m curious.
I move my strong tail back and forth,
I reach the area.
I see a two legged creature,
Jumping,
Without a care in the world.
I still wait for my favorite smell:
Blood.
The taste of sweet food
In my powerful jaws.
I wait again,
They stop,
And walk away.
My disappointment was unbearable.
I watch the creature leave,
My hunger grew.
I waited till it was safe,
I came out of the water
To have an appetizer.
Till my victim comes back
For they can’t ignore:
Their lust of water.
