Never Alone

Staring off into the distance,
She pondered the view.
The sun setting,
The ocean's waves rolling up on the sandy shore.
She wondered what it would be like to have someone;
A friend,
A relative,
Anyone.
Who else could there be?
Life seems to be lonely;
All the time.
She glances around,
Upon hearing footsteps in the distance.
But finds no one.
She sighs.
Her imagination seems to be going wild,
She is craving not to be anti-social.
But who else?
She starts drawing in the glowing sand,
A heart was the end result.
She quickly got up
And ran through her art.
Running down the beach,
She stumbles upon a branch,
And rolls into the waves and the mud.
Laying there she hears something…
The footsteps of a friend,
Her eyes skim the horizon in search of hope,
Where she had been running.
And spots Him.
Coming towards her.
Bending low He picks her up,
And carries her off.
She peered down,
She saw two sets of footprints,
One set hers
And the other His.
She looked again…
This time it was only His.
And then she smiled;
She was never alone.
